Meet Alex Richards and Alan Smith.

Alex, founder of video content business YouMore and co-host of the EBS podcast, has always been fascinated by the untold stories behind successful businesses in his home city of Edinburgh.

Alongside him is Alan, a certified business coach and member of the UK ActionCOACH team, who has supported over 100 SMEs across Edinburgh and The Lothians. Together, they bring curiosity, insight, and a relaxed conversational style to the podcast, uncovering the challenges, triumphs, and behind-the-scenes moments of both well-known and hidden local businesses.

The Format of the Show

The format of the show is very simple.

We always start with you giving a small snapshot of your business - who you are, what your business does and a rough size too - whether that be headcount, turnover or even the number of. vans - it's just good to give our listeners a bit of context right at the start of the episode.

Then we go back to the beginning, at that might be primary school, university, or the start of your business, and then, we just role from there.

We use the questions that you fill out in your questionnaire as a guide to help us lead the conversation. Don't worry, if you have nothing more to say, we will be ready with another question to keep the conversation following.

We always finish each episode by asking - What is your guiding principle in business?

The recording tends to last around 40 minutes.

On the Day

Get comfortable!

We want to make sure you are happy and comfortable. We won't jump straight into the show - you can grab a drink, meet the podcast team and chat a bit with us! (P.s Feel free to wear what you like - we will be dressed pretty casual - you can wear work branded stuff if you like, or whatever you would wear to a casual drink at the pub with friends!)

We will go over with you the make up of the show, the format and flow plan, and double check you are happy with the stories and key points you will mention below.

Get started

We will then record the podcast for around 30-50 mins. It is a casual chat between Alan, Alex and yourself. We will lead the conversation and keep the conversation flowing so don't worry about that, but don't be afraid to ask us things too!

Thank you! It was great to have you on! Once we are done, you are welcome to head straight away or stick around a bit longer for a chat!

What happens after the show?

The show will be edited and sent to you to listen and approve.

Please, once you receive it, watch it as soon as you can and approve, or let us know if there are any sensitive areas we may need to remove. Feel free to share it with anyone internally that would like to listen and check too!

Once approved, it will be scheduled - we will confirm with you the date and time of the release.
